Taking a quick rest stop over Scarth Gap Pass
The walk around Pillar leads up from Buttermere Valley and makes its way across Scarth Gap Pass, leading up over various pikes to the summit of Pillar rock and then back down into Ennerdale.
However on the day, the clouds were plentiful and low and made visibility difficult as soon as the group got up to any height. Conditions got so bad that the team decided with their guide that they did not want to go on any further and took the shortest route down into Wasdale where they headed straight for the nearest pub!
