Activity Information

Ghyll Scrambling (Medium) - Suitable for ages 7+ when accompanied by an adult
You will find yourself ascending or descending a mountain stream, jumping into plunge pools, traversing along rock walls, jumping across boulders, climbing up or abseiling down waterfalls, scrambling through tight squeezes and sometimes the odd bit of swimming. In short, it's alot of fun.
  • Your instructor will take you on an amazing and unforgettable adventure: You will be provided with all safety equipment, as well as wet suits, waterproof clothing and wellington boots.
  • We will encourage and support you, so that you have a fun and enjoyable time and carry waterproof cameras to capture the highlights.
  • All our instructors take your safety as a top priority and carry first aid kits and safety equipment.
Canoeing (Medium/Hard) - Suitable for ages 10+ when accompanied by an adult
Being based in the north lakes we have easy access for paddling on one of the areas most popular lakes, Derwent Water. With calm waters and lots of interesting corners to venture into we can explore the islands and beaches whilst taking in the wonderful views. Beginners will find this session the perfect introduction to this chilled out way of getting around. Canoeing across Derwent Water is a humbling experience as you are surrounded by some beautiful green giants who have stood unmoving for thousands of years.

Experiencing the Lake District from the water is something the majority of visitors miss out on and it offers a whole new angle on your experiences. The beauty of canoeing is its ability to enter you into the natural world around us, without disturbing the peace and tranquility.

Kayaking (Medium/hard) - Suitable for ages 10+ when accompanied by an adult
Kayaking uses boats which were originally used by Eskimos for travelling on the sea. Lake District kayaking allows you to see the national park differently and on Derwent Water, the peace and quiet of the location can be fully appreciated. There is so much to enjoy about the sport of kayaking besides paddling. It is a great way to exercise and in this package it provides a unique opportunity to learn new skills.

Whether you are looking to perform the perfect Eskimo roll, or simply out for some fun: our instructors can tailor the kayaking session to suit your skills. A journey across Derwent Water will be undertaken, taking in some of the breathtaking sights of the Lake District mountains. Paddling skills will be coached in a fun environment, involving games as well as personal coaching.

Rock Climbing (Easy/medium) - Suitable for ages 10+ when accompanied by an adult
Being based in the Lake District it gives us the great advantage of being close to some of the UK's best rock climbing locations, from high mountain crags to low lying outcrops, because of this it is such a good place to learn or improve your skills. Perfect for beginners.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in the Lake District and transfer to your chosen accommodation.

Day 2

A fun-filled day that is jam packed with adventure. You'll be trying your hand at rock climbing in the morning guided by our excellent instructors and then prepare to get wet as ghyll scrambling is the afternoon's main activity. After all the exertion, you and your family will be glad of a refreshing swim at the bottom of a waterfall to cool off.

Day 3

Today we offer a relaxing contrast from the high action activities of your first day, and the itinerary is structured around a full day kayaking or open canoeing on Derwent Water. Starting out from Kettlewell Car Park we begin with a leisurely paddle around Derwent Water, stopping off for a picnic lunch on St. Herbert's Island before heading towards Keswick at the north end of the lake where we can disembark. Alternatively, if you paddle well and we have time we can also follow the river Derwent towards Bassenthwaite which offers close up views of Skiddaw and the Coledale Fells.

Day 4

Depart Keswick after breakfast and head home. Alternatively, you may also wish to depart at around 4-5pm at the end of the day 3 activity session if preferred.
