A fun-filled family activity holiday...
This action packed adventure holiday is crammed with activities to keep the whole family entertained. It is based in a stunning unspoiled valley in Western Slovenia.
- White water rafting
- Mountain biking
- Mini Rafting
Our base for the trip is Tolmin, a small picturesque town on the outskirts of the Alps, steeped in history and with a population of around 4000 people. Tolmin is in the centre of the pristine Soca Valley and is ideally located to take advantage of the surrounding Julian Alps and crystal clear rivers, making it the perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy a selection of land & water activities. The town is also fully equipped with all the services you will need during your stay and it holds markets where you can purchase locally produced goods. Throughout the trip you will be looked after by an experienced team of friendly local guides.
Raft down the turquoise blue river Soca, surrounded by alpine peaks; slide down a canyon stream or deep gorge; walk and cycle in the clear air through green forests; canoe by torchlight under the bright stars on a mild summer evening. This is a holiday your family will never forget.
Slithering down waterfalls, hiking through a gorge, swimming in crystal-clear pools and much more. Canyoning is all this and more. No experience is necessary to enjoy Nature's own water slides.
Pršjak is a stream in a gorge where the water level does not vary significantly - there is always enough water and never too much. At the starting-point, you will change into your canyoning gear. Your dry clothes will be waiting for you in the minibus. Once you are dressed and ready, there is a 20-minute walk to the bank of the gorge. This will warm you up and prepare you for the 2-3 hour adventure. The route takes you along a forest trail past the 27-metre waterfall that will be your biggest challenge. Before reaching it you can expect a number of other waterfalls between 1 and 12 metres high. Before you start your unforgettable adventure, the guides will give you a demonstration of safe canyoning techniques.
Riding the section between Boka and Trnovo takes you through the most attractive part of the Soca River and lasts about a 1.5 to 2 hours. The trip takes you approximately 12 km downriver. The rafting trip is suitable for all swimmers over 15 years of age. During the trip we will lay on a variety of fun and games that will enhance your rafting experience.
Unlike standard rafting, with mini-rafting you and your group (3 people to a raft) board the raft alone while the guides accompany you from kayaks. Mini rafts are much more monoeverable than standard rafts.Before you set off, the guides will explain, demonstrate and teach you everything you need to know about safety and paddling techniques. You leave your dry clothes in the minibus. The first stop on the river is at Kamno Bridge, where a surprise will be waiting for you. After a short break on dry land, you return to your rafts and continue on towards Tolmin. Other treats en route include swimming in the So?a and a water slide.The trip ends at Vol?e Bridge, where you can change back into dry clothes. Our cook will be waiting for you here, with local, home made food. Our picnic location also has facilities for additional recreation (beach volleyball, football, badminton, children's playground, etc.), or you can simply lie back and listen to the flowing river.
Kayak Tuition Day
The kayak school provides the essential knowledge for all those who want to become good kayakers. At our school we work to ensure that each student learns to respect the river and its dangers. You will be taught:
Proper preparation of the kayak before you start paddling;
Proper use of the paddle;
Stability in the kayak (bracing with the paddle);
Moving in a straight line;
How to get out of the kayak safely if it capsizes.
In the afternoon you will be out on the river practicing your new skills on the unspoilt turquoise river Soca.
Venture off with your guide on your mountain bikes, to discover more sides to this stunning region. Wind your way along quiet roads, off-the-beaten track paths and through lush meadows. This is a fantastic region for cycling. If you get too hot you can cool down by taking a dip in the crystal clear river.
For all activities we provide the necessary equipment (For water activities: neoprene suit and shoes, windcheater, helmet, life jacket for cycling: bikes & helmets), transport, liability insurance, qualified local guides, a drop of good local wine, photos of the trip and more. No previous experience is necessary for any of the trips.
There are two possibilities for accommodation:
The 3 star Pension Kobala is located 2km out from Tolmin in a small, beautiful and peaceful village Poljubinj. It was built in 2006 and offers comfortable lodging in rooms or apartments of various sizes. You will stay here on a half-board basis and eat in the restaurant where excellent home-made specialities are offered. Kind personnel will ensure you have a very pleasant stay.
The other option is to stay in family run private apartments which are situated in a nice area of Tolmin town. These apartments are provided on a bed and breakfast basis.
You will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation in Poljubinj for a welcome drink and introductory meeting. After dinner we meet on the terrace of Pension Kobala to enjoy some evening entertainment.
White water rafting on Soca river on 2-4 rated stretch, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Fun and technical, meaning everyone's assistance is important when paddling to perform a professional 'no touch' run.
Meet in front of the hotel and transfer to the Polog Valley, followed by exploration of WW1 bunkers from the inside out. We will continue with moderate walking through forests and over springs to the source of the Tolminka River, a picturesque place, surrounded with amazing cliffs and lush green vegetation followed by a break on a high alpine meadow. We will continue with a moderate descent to Tolmin through Tolminka canyon.
Free day with many possibilities. Why not visit famous Lake Bled and swim in the crystal clear water, explore nearby cultural and historic heritage, visit refreshing and picturesque Tolminka Gorge, or maybe just relax next to the turquoise Soca river.
Meet in front of Pension Kobala for a 'Kayak tuition and development' day. Once you have mastered the basics, kayaks give you the freedom to explore almost any river. In the morning we concentrate on tuition and in the afternoon, we put our new found skills to the test on a Grade I to II stretch of river.
We set off by bicycle towards the valley of the Idrijca, on a road that winds along above the sparkling Soča river, and then continue along the "old" road by the river Idrijca among meadows and pastures. If the day gets too hot we will take a refreshing dip in the river. Our destination is the village of Slap ob Idrijci, 12 kilometres away, where there is a wonderful natural bathing place. Refreshing drinks, a diving board and plenty of activities are available on the beach. A refreshing swim is highly recommended! Return is scheduled for the afternoon.
Free day, where you can try some extra activities we offer (paragliding, caving, high rope course), or just enjoy a relaxing day next to the beautiful river.
Canyoning! A short walk in the picturesque Prsjak gorge followed by sliding and jumping down streams of escalating height up to a 27 metre high waterfall, assisted with a rope. A once in a lifetime experience!
Free day, where you can rent a car and explore Slovenia's top destinations such as Lake Bohinj, Postojna Cave, Ljubljana city and many others.
A whole day Mini rafting white water trip on the emerald Soca river with paddling, swimming, water games and a barbecue. An excellent mix of relaxation and skills development.
After a late breakfast and some time for shopping you depart to the airport.

Q. Are we covered by insurance during the activity?
A. Yes. All customers are covered by our own accident insurance during the activities we provide. We would recommend that you take out your own general travel insurance as well to cover you for other aspects of your trip.
Q. Can an activity be cancelled and when?
A. An activity can be cancelled because of poor weather conditions such as an excessively high water level in the case of water activities or rain in the case of the adrenaline park. Cancellation Policy: if we need to cancel; due to a dangerous water level, we may cancel certain activities and suggest that clients take different activity. If this is not possible, you will get a full refund.
Q. Do I need a visa to travel?
A. As Slovenia is a member of the EU you will not need a visa to enter if you are a British passport holder. There is a toursit tax to pay but this is often included in your holiday price.
Q. Do we need special equipment?
A. For water activities, just a swimsuit and a towel; for other activities, gym shoes and comfortable sports clothes.
Q. Is there an age limit?
A. The minimum age limit for the family holiday is 10. Some of the more demanding activities such as hydrospeed, canyoning and classic rafting have a lower age limit of 15. Visitors to the adrenaline park must be at least 150 cm tall
Q. What abilities are we expected to have?
A. None of the activities require any previous knowledge or experience. Normal physical and mental health and the ability to swim in the case of water activities are all that is required. We do not accept guests under the influence of alcohol and other psychoactive substances. Our activities are not recommended for pregnant women. Guests with certain pre-existing health conditions (asthma, injuries, etc.) are advised to consult a guide.
Q. What about safety?
A. It is important to be aware that all outdoor activities include a certain degree of risk, and this should not be underestimated. We can, however, reduce risk to a minimum, which we do by using highly trained and experienced guides who satisfy all requirements for the individual activities, and by observing safety rules covering every aspect of safety from your arrival at the centre to your happy return. Additionally, only high-quality, fully-tested equipment is used for all activities.
Q. What happens if its raining?
A. We know from experience that rain simply makes water activities even more fun! Once you are in the water, you forget about the rain, or rather you start to enjoy it and the unique mist clouds that form just above the surface of the water.
If you have any questions about this activity please do not hesitate to ask.
Families with children aged 10 or over looking for an active holiday in unspoilt nature. All participants must be able to swim. Minimum age for rafting is 15.
