Skiing Holiday in Slovenia
Price from: £895.00
Ref No: Activus 009
Combined skiing in Slovenia and Italy with optional extra activities.
Superb skiing holiday based at Kanin Ski Centre in the beautiful Soča Valley.
Kanin's high elevation accounts for the often superb snow conditions and allows the ski season to continue into the month of May. With the season for kayaking beginning in mid March the resort can offer the unusual combination of Skiing/Boarding and river activities such as rafting and kayaking in the same day.
2010 marks the opening of an exciting new link-up whereby lifts will operate between Kanin (Slovenia) and Sella Nevea (Italy) allowing skiers to experience skiing in two countries in the same day, creating a resort of international standards. While skiing in Slovenia may seem a novel idea to some, the benefits of skiing in this unique country are endless. From excellent snow conditions, quieter pistes, longer seasons to the ‘three course meal for under 8 Euros’ served in Kanins restaurant there are many reasons why Slovenia is an ideal location for a good value winter holiday.
It is also possible to add on the any of the following activities to your trip:
- Day/night sledging on Slovenia's second highest mountain, Mt. Mangart
- Tandem paragliding from Kanin's peak
Whether by day or at night, experience the thrill of sledging down one of Slovenia's most beautiful mountains. This is an exciting but safe activity and a different way of discovering the natural winter delights of the area. By day take in the vistas from this magnificent mountain, or by night under a vast starry sky with only the moon and a head torch to light the way.
The heavy snowfall of recent winters has made snowshoeing a popular activity within the Valley. Walking on snowy moonscapes on modern snow shoes is a fantastic and unique way to explore this magical place, whether it is a trip to the source of the famous Soca River or a winterland safari, Snowshoeing is an exhilarating way to spend a days adventures.
See Bovec from above! Soar above its valleys and waters and enjoy a bird’s-eye view. There is nothing more refreshing for the spirit than gliding freely through the layers of the atmosphere, accompanied only by a rising orchestra of Alpine sounds. Our top starting point is Mt. Mangart, chosen for its altitude as well as for its dramatic scenery. Other incredibly impressive starting points are Mt. Stol and Mt. Kuk, where you can experience the long, soft, whispering passage of Mediterranean air rising into the clear Alpine world. In the winter-time and long into the spring there’s no better eyrie from which to stoop than Mt. Kanin, covered in snow and affording a fantastic view of the valley, where we sail from the ski slopes and take the sky road to Bovec. This is what it feels like to be removed from the everyday world.
Rafting is ideal for those who love the thrill of adrenaline adventures. You will be rafting upon the Soca River, known as “The Emerald Beauty”, signifying the impossibly beautiful emerald green waters. The specially designed rubber boat is steered by an experienced guide, ably assisted by your team of between 6 and 8 rowers. With amazing whitewaters and rising waves, a rafter can get ample opportunities to test his rafting expertise on the waters. At the same time, rafting is easy to learn and overpowering the strong currents makes it a genuine sporting thrill.
One of the most pleasing ways to explore a river, kayaking is a fun sport which is accessible to anyone, experienced or novice. You will receive tuition if necessary and then be given the freedom to follow the water course best suited to your abilities so you can choose how wet you want to get!
Accommodation is at Hotel Kanin, located near Bovec centre in a quiet loaction, surrounded by a large garden.
